Finding Art That You Love

Posted on January 28, 2013 By kwalker (Edit) 1 Comment

Before pursuing my passion for interior design, I spent many years as an antiquarian and art collector. Even today I’m always on the lookout for interesting artwork, whether from emerging or well-known artists. In my work, I’m known to bring in large-scale pieces that create a sense of drama or excitement to a space. Often, it’s the one element of surprise or delight that can make the whole room come together.

Whether you’re an adventurer who loves to travel afar to collect unique exotic art, or you’re a hometown hunter who loves to discover local gems, the key to finding any piece for your home is to find something that speaks to you. Buying work that moves you and evokes an instant emotional connection – rather than simply because it’s from the latest “it” artist – ensures that your investment will always be a wise one.

Large-scale art serves not only as a focal point in a room, but also sets the mood for the space.

Curating a meaningful art collection for your home can be a years-long, even life-long, endeavor. But each piece is a chapter to the overall personal story of your collection.

What artwork have you recently fallen in love with?

I’m biased but my father-in-law, Phil Perry, is an amazing artist. There are so many layers to his work. I see something new each time I look at his paintings.
